Schmitter Memorial Epee Open

Please come and honor one of US fencing's greatest figures. Maestro Charles Schmitter was the first US-born citizen to receive the Italian Fencing Master's Diploma, which was bestowed upon him upon completion of his studies with renowned maestro, Edoardo Mangiarotti. Schmitter helped to found the US Fencing Coaches' Association (presided from '52-'54); was the first NCAA fencing coach of the year; sat on the US Fencing Olympic Committee in '56 and '60; sent athletes to the Olympic Games in '52, '56, and '60; earned 6 state foil titles, 2 state epee title, and 2 state sabre titles; in addition to coaching and teaching at MSU from '48-'83.

FORMAT
*Men's, Women's: 100% promotion from pools to simple DE's with repechage in the round of 16.
Vet Event: 100% promotion from pools to 10-touch/2-period DE's
One Touch: Repechage in all rounds

*Women may fence Men's only if they also fence Women's. The Women's event may be combined with the Men's event in the case of fewer than 5 attendees.

11:30 AM Mixed One Touch Epee
12:30 PM Men's Epee

EVENT FEES
$20.00 for 1st event, $15.00 for each additional event.
$5.00 off EACH event with pre-registration (EXCLUDES 1-touch)
$5.00 for 1-touch event.

AWARDS
Daggers will be awarded for 1st place in each event!
