Previous fencing experience not required!

Contact glsc-board@glswords.com and come observe a practice to ask questions and see if joining GLSC is right for you.

You'll want to do the following before your first visit:

• Familiarize yourself with our Policies
• Review our Fee Structure

If you decide you want to join, you'll need to:

• Fill out paperwork - we'll have paper copies available (Contact Information Form, Waiver).
• Join USA Fencing - you can choose the 'Access Membership' (and upgrade to a competitive membership if/when you decide to go to regional competitions).
• Pay your GLSC Annual dues and monthly or daily floor fees.

You'll most likely need your own equipment as the club has a very limited selection of equipment available for lending. A complete set of starting equipment includes:

• a mask
• a glove
• a Jacket
• a plastron / underarm protector
• knickers / pants
• a french grip practice foil
• long socks (soccer socks work well)
• indoor court / gym shoes (Adidas Sambas are preferred by many of our members)
• a chest protector (optional for men)

Absolute Fencing sells a 6 piece practice foil set that is a good starting point. Upgrading to a front-zip jacket makes it significantly easier to get into and out of the jacket. Adding a bag is reasonable as well (you can also use any large bag, soft golf travel bags often work well and are cheaper).
